Who is who – Richard Opara

Richard joined our Exam Operations Department in August 2020. He will support the team with various tasks until the next summer 2021.
About your career and interests?
I am the new Exam Operations intern. I am in my last year of the HMS (Handelsmittelschule) where students usually do a one-year-long internship. I plan on going to university after the internship. Outside of work, I enjoy playing basketball and playing video games.

Linguaskill – Remote-proctored English language assessment during Covid-19

With the number of Corona infections rising globally, our way of conducting English language testing in huge halls with a lot of candidates is a challenge.
Fortunately, Linguaskill, by Cambridge Assessment English, has made relevant progress towards independent and on-demand language assessment with the remote proctoring option.
Last Cambridge English exam seats in 2020 available now!

In response to the high demand for computer-based exams and the cancellation of some exams during the first half of 2020 because of the Corona virus, Swiss Exams has added additional exam dates for the last quarter of 2020.
We have added exams in Berne, Lucerne, Zurich and St. Gallen for various levels including B1 Preliminary, B2 First, C1 Advanced, B1 Business Preliminary, B2 Business Vantage, C1 Business Vantage.
Online teaching with MS Teams – new webinars focus on enhancing online classrooms

Looking back at a very successful webinar series on the online meeting platform Zoom, we are continuing our Swiss Exams Digital Fall with a webinar series dedicated to teaching on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The topics that will be covered are the following: teaching interactively on Teams, using breakout rooms, giving more control to your students, and using the whiteboard.
Delivering the best exam day experience possible – Swiss Exams awarded with an “excellent” grade for the exam day compliance assessment

In September Swiss Exams was subject to an Exam Day Compliance Audit which was conducted by Cambridge Assessment English. We are happy to share with you that we were awarded an “excellent” grade from the Cambridge inspectors.

Is it safe to do exams now?

From the 8th to the 10th September there was a global online conference called Cambridge Live Experience.
This conference was jointly organised by Cambridge Assessment and Cambridge University Press. I was asked by Cambridge to do a presentation titled: “Is it safe to do exams now?”
When hearts are filled with pride #customerstory

The first certificate ceremony of 2020 was held at SBW Haus des Lernens in Kreuzlingen in a small circle.
As a special service to our partner schools we offer certificate ceremonies for classes that pass their Cambridge English Exam. Due to the government restrictions of the Corona Virus a lot of our planned certificate ceremonies had to be cancelled. On 2nd July 2020 our CEO, Lori Kaithan was able to attend a small Certificate Ceremony as part of the graduation ceremony at SBW Haus des Lernens in Kreuzlingen.
