The 12th Annual Cambridge English Seminar – Learning Oriented Assessment: Bringing Teaching and Testing Together
The topic of this year’s seminar on 2-3 April 2016 brought together the best of two worlds…teaching and testing. It related to the everyday work of teachers and gave them an opportunity to think about what they do in the classroom with exam practice. The internationally experienced presenters showed teachers how to turn exam tasks into motivating teaching items.

Motivational Talks for Students
As a centre we visit our schools regularly to update them on news from the centre and news from Cambridge English Language Assessment in the UK. We generally do a presentation and then leave time for questions and feedback. At one of our preparation centres I was asked to talk to the students and not to the teachers which was quite new to me. It turned out to be a very successful time with the students. I felt that they were inspired by the talk to do more with their English skills as, for example, to take a Cambridge English Exam.

Learning Oriented Assessment: Bringing Teaching and Testing Together
At this year's Annual Cambridge English Spring Seminar we have chosen to take a closer look at Learning Oriented Assessment. How can assessment, both formative and summative, be brought together to allow continuous and reliable assessment to take place in the classroom and how can that then positively impact on our teaching and on our relationship to our students.
There are still spaces left for this interesting event. Please see below some highlights that are waiting for you.
For the first time at an Annual Cambridge English Seminar, we will be running a Young Learners’ Workshop. For the workshops we have engaged Karen Saxby who has produced a wealth of material for younger learners of English and has acted as a consultant for the production of EFL material and the development of language test formats.
