Identification (ID) Policy

All candidates are required to show a valid identity document on all exam days. Only unexpired, original documentation is accepted. Candidates that bring an invalid or no ID to their exams will not be allowed to take the test.

What documents are accepted in the Cambridge exams?

All candidates must present a valid ID on the exam day:

  • Passport
  • National identity Card (Identitätskarte)
  • Residence Permit (Ausländerausweis)
  • Driving licence (Fahrausweis, Learners permit)
  • Completed Candidate Identification form: only for candidates aged 17 and under! If a candidate aged 17 years or younger does not own suitable ID, they can use this form instead. Bring this form with 2 photographs attached to your first exam. Only completed forms are accepted on the exam days. Please note that empty forms are not available at the exam venue.

You should check your ID immediately after registering for an exam. Candidates are only allowed to sit the exam if they can show a valid ID at their written and speaking exams.

Candidates without valid ID who have their first exam in less than 10 days should approach the cantonal passport office and request a temporary passport (Provisorischer Pass/Notpass, CHF 100/150).
