What is C2 Proficiency (CPE)?

C2 Proficiency (CPE) is an official high-level Cambridge English qualification, requiring proficient competence in all the language skills, set at level C2 which is the highest level of the Council of Europe's Common Framework of Reference for Languages.

Typical users at C2 level can be expected to:

  • understand documents, correspondence and reports, including the [finer] points of complex texts
  • write letters on any subject and full notes of meetings or seminars with good expression and accuracy
  • advise on or talk about complex or sensitive issues, understanding colloquial references and dealing confidently with hostile questions

Who takes Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE)?

C2 Proficiency (CPE) is the highest level Cambridge English Exam in Switzerland. C2 Proficiency (CPE) is used as an entry or school-leaving exam at higher educational levels (Gymnasium, higher education such as Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences, Pädagogische Hochschulen, etc.). Successful candidates can study demanding subjects at the highest levels, including post-graduate and PhD programmes. C2 Proficiency (CPE) is also used in the corporate sector. Format of the exam

You can take your Cambridge exam in two ways: on a computer or on paper.
